The first phase of the project, a group initiative, was an investigation of re-urbanization through architecture, water, land and public space. The site is located in a dense urban neighbourhood in the central area of Sao Paulo, Brasil comprised of a deactivated railyard surrounded by three distinctive neighbourhoods. The neighbourhoods are effectively severed from eachother topographically and by the presence of the rail; active intense areas divided by a massive void. Rather than filling the site with dense architectural infrastructure and program, we proposed quite the opposite: a beach.
